    Place      : Hong Kong
    Year       : 1879
    Imprint    : 470 p.
    Bibl. note : No small effort on the side of the compiler, this
                 little dictionary of some 9000 placenames owes much of
                 its material to Biot's work of 1842. With the re-
                 adjustments of geo-political units (districts,
                 autonomous regions and the like) the work is outdated,
                 though still useful (for example it supplies longitude
                 and latitude measurements, includes placenames of the
                 border regions and provides lists of "adminstrative
                 cities of China" as it were in the 1870ies. Arranged
                 according to Wade's rendering of the Chinese
                 characters; index; numerous reprints (Tokyo 1901 and
                 again in 1905; Shanghai 1910; Taibei 1965);
